CLUE- A SPECTACULAR WHODUNIT AT UC-CCM

FEBRURARY 9, 2024, LEAGUE OF CINCINNATI THEATERS

"Scenic Designer CCM student Gabby Trice has created not one, not two but more than four sets to seamlessly transport the audience to the iconic Clue mansion. With some help from a turntable and about 17 very visible backstage workers who earn their applause, there is great attention to detail in the scenery. It is a demanding design, and well executed to support the number of entrances and exits."

"First and foremost, the technical prowess on display was exceptional. The set design, while minimal, was captivating and functional, providing the perfect backdrop for unfolding the narrative."

"Scenic designer Gabrielle Stephenson uses several thoughtful and clever ways to guide the story throughout its varying locations as well as creating an environment that serves a repertory run adjacent to the acclaimed professional premier of A COMPLICATED HOPE in the West End Performing Arts Center's blackbox. Nothing is extraneous nor wasted, including a painted spiraling design of vein-like wires reaching out from the floor into the walls."

"I wanted Stiff to feel more intimate, so we pushed the two smaller platforms together, shifted the moving walls more downstage, brought the house curtains in, and added some different dressing to give it a more relaxed ambiance."
